Looking for something to break the monotony of life at the moment? Look no further.

Back in October, my friend and I were craving a sense of adventure and spontaneity. Coming from a suburban town, that can be extremely hard to find... at least until my friend discovered Guess Where Trips.

About Guess Where Trips

Guess Where Trips offers fully-planned road trip packages in several provinces based in Canada. You are solely paying for the itinerary; however, the mystery behind your trip makes these packages extremely unique and treasured. You don't know where you're going until you open the envelopes detailing your next location. Think Amazing Race, but without the time crunch and constant running around.

I love that you have the option of choosing from different themed packages, depending on what you're looking for. You can also calculate the distance from your location to the first destination, and they will provide an estimated travel time without giving away any surprises. If you're a heavy planner, this might not be for you, but if you're looking for something that will surprise you and take you out of your comfort zone, keep reading.

Weird and Wonderful Things

You should know that I love things that are just weird and obscure- it's essential whenever I'm planning a trip. Naturally, my friend and I chose the "Weird and Wonderful Things" package because it sounded like everything I'm into and also the drive wasn't too bad- an estimate of 1.7 hours from my place to the first destination.

The Ultimate Roadtrip

My friend Maegan and I took this trip on the most perfect fall day: October 31st. The mood set, road trip playlist ready, and coffee fully fueled, we were all set.

First Stop: Bracebridge, Ontario

Our first stop took us to Bracebridge, Ontario. We went straight to Camp Muskoka Coffeehouse, which has the best chai lattes and chocolate chip cookies (very well-known).

Hot tip: If you mention you're doing a Guess Where Trip, you can request two for one breakfast sandwiches (show them the pamphlet) for a nice deal.

After breakfast, we strolled along Downtown Bracebridge, which has plenty of nice novelty and souvenir shops. Lots of incredible finds in this area and a butter tart bakery that we never got to try but must the next time.

Not pictured: the actual bridge of Bracebridge (a missed opportunity, I know) with absolutely stunning views.

Stop 2: Huntsville, Ontario

The next stop was my favourite: Lion's Lookout in Huntsville, Ontario. Driving up a steep hill, there's room for parking at the top for those who want to avoid the hike. There are a few picnic tables set up, and frankly, I can't say much that will do it justice, so I'll let the photos do the talking.

Third Stop: Lunch Break

After an eventful morning, it was around 1-2 pm when we opened the third envelope, "Something to Eat." Perfect timing. The restaurants were all based in downtown Huntsville, and although they provided a few options, we decided to go to On the Docks Pub, where we shared a yummy caesar salad and beef nachos. I'm not a big meat-eater, but these were probably the best nachos I've had in a while.

Stop 4: Burk's Falls

This was the turning point of the trip where the weird part kicked in. The itinerary brought us to Burk's Falls, where we caught this nice stream. The place felt very spooky, though. I'm talking complete silence, no actual living thing, and absolutely deserted. Nevertheless, who doesn't love a good stream?

Final Stop: Screaming Heads

Finally, I present to you the long-awaited weird and spooky. Our last stop brought us to Screaming Heads, a huge property created and lived on by artist Peter Camani (who still lives on the property to this day called Midlothian Castle).

We arrived around 4 pm just as the sun was setting, which amplified the eerie feeling of this place. I was seriously spooked, but I also loved it. This property is free to visit; however, if you can donate a can of food, drop off is near the entrance!

These photos don't cover the entire property. There is a TON to see here-you just gotta visit it. If you're into obscure things, this checks the list completely. But also, it's a property filled with art installations, and if you're lucky, you might even run into the owner feeding his ducks and white peacocks that live on the property.

Overall Experience

If you have the travel blues, this is such a worthwhile experience. If you can, I would suggest booking a hotel overnight so you can experience the stops fully without feeling pressed for time. But overall, it's an amazing and spontaneous adventure that I would highly recommend. Also, points for exploring all the incredible sights Canada has to offer.

If you enjoyed browsing through some pics and exploring this journey with me, my friend and I also vlogged our entire experience (but beware- it's full of our chaotic selves and is our friendship in a nutshell). Check it out below!
